HOS INSPECTS HYGIENE FACILITIES IN FEDERAL SECRETARIAT

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, (HOS),Dr Folasade Yemi – Esan has inspected some of the hygiene and safety measures in the Federal Secretariat to ascertain their suitability to safeguard the safety and health of civil servants in their work places.

Dr Yemi –Esan who carried out the inspection on Wednesday, 27th May, 2020 reiterated her commitment to the welfare of civil servants. She said “the welfare of civil servants is paramount to me. I cannot allow them to work in an atmosphere that is not conducive”.

The HOS inspected the hand washing points and sanitizers provided at the entrances of offices including other modalities put in place to control influx of visitors in line with physical distancing directives.

Dr Yemi – Esan commended the efforts of the Ministries. She however expressed her displeasure at the condition of the toilets in some of the Ministries. She pointed out that they were not up to standard and fell short of her expectation.

The HOS acknowledged the issue of scarcity of water, a matter which she said her office is looking into; she however implored the Permanent Secretaries to improve on the state of the toilet facilities.

The Permanent Secretary, Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Adesola Olusade who spoke on behalf of the Permanent Secretaries promised that the Ministries domiciled in the Federal Secretariat will work on the lapses identified by the HOS and improve on them.

 The unannounced visit of the HOS who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), Mr Temitope Fashedemi and other officials of the OHCSF is as a result of earlier circular directing MDAs to provide hand washing and other hygiene amenities to prevent the spread of COVID- 19.
