FG ASSURES NIGERIAN WORKERS

The Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan has assured Nigerian workers of Federal Government’s commitment to their welfare.

She said this while addressing Nigerian workers at a rally to mark the 2021 World Day for Decent Work (WDDW) at the Federal Secretariat on 7th October, 2021 in Abuja.

Dr. Yemi-Esan, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Ngozi  Onwudiwe, further said that the recent approval of paternity leave among other incentives was part of welfare scheme for Nigerian workers, adding that the package covers both the public and civil servants.

While congratulating the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) on the World Day for Decent Work, she urged them to come up with articulated requests to the Office for consideration by the Federal Government.

Speaking earlier, the President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba  Waba called for safe and healthy working conditions, fair wages, equal opportunities, equal pay for equal work, adequate social protection, security and effective representation of trade unions in the scheme of things.

The theme for the 2021 WDDW celebration is; “The Effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Health, Employment, Income and Gender Equality are more entrenched and catastrophic than before”.
