OHCSF ENGAGES RETIRED HOS AND PS ON DEVELOPMENT OF CIVIL SERVICE TRANSFORMATION PLAN 2021 – 2025

The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), has held a one-day workshop for past Heads of Civil Service and retired Permanent Secretaries on the successor plan of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implemention Plan (FCSSIP) 2021–2025 at the weekend in Abuja.

In his speech, the Permanent Secretary, Service Policy and Strategies Office, Dr Emmanuel Meribole, said the workshop was organized to get robust inputs into the new plan from 'our elders who had been there and are now watching from the side lines'.

“You had been on the driving seat in running the affairs of the Federal Civil Service. You have worn the shoes and you know which one is uncomfortable and now more than ever before, you have done some reflections. Your inputs in the development of a new plan that will sustain the gains made in the FCSSIP 2017 – 2020 and capture new initiatives that will make our Civil Service world class cannot be over emphasized”, he added.

Highlighting the end-term review of the plan held in December, 2020, Dr Meribole said in developing a new plan, there was need to sustain the gains made while looking at the new initiatives that will make the service a world class one.

He added that there was also need to consider the dynamic work environment such as the current COVID-19 pandemic which has brought new ways of doing things.

As the engine of governance, we must remain resilient and focused to achieve our targets despite the challenges of the time, he emphasised.

He further said that we must always strive to anticipate future threats, learn from the past and ensure quality service to the citizens. The development of a new plan, has to align with the Medium-Term National Development Plans 2021 – 2025 and 2026 – 2030.

In her speech, the Chairperson of the occasion, Ms Amal Pepple said that the workshop was held to get the inputs of stakeholders to ensure a seamless implementation.

The lead discussant, Dr Gideon Adogbo gave an overview of the Federal Civil Service Transformation Plan.

The event attracted retired Heads of Civil Service of the Federation, Mr Danladi Kifasi, Ms Amal Pepple, and professor Oladapo A. Afolabi.
